What could your business sell for?

An indicative valuation built the way a buyer builds a price: adjusted profit, a multiple placed by seven value levers, then the walk from enterprise value to what reaches you. Upload your accounts to start, or type the figures in about ten minutes.

Fastest start

Upload your accounts

Your full statutory accounts as PDFs: the set your accountant prepares for you to sign, not the shorter version on Companies House. Two sets cover three years. When you upload, the file is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which reads the figures so we can fill in Steps 1 and 4 for you to check. We do not keep the file unless you ask us to review it. Prefer not to upload? Type the figures and everything stays in your browser.

Up to two PDF files, 4MB each.

Step 1

Profit, last three years

From your accounts. Only the latest year is required; add the other two for a weighted view.

Latest year

Year before

Two years before

Step 2

Adjustments a buyer should see

Costs or income that would not continue under a new owner, such as owner pay above a market salary, personal costs or one-off bills. Be honest about the evidence: buyers only count what they can verify.

Step 3

The multiple

Set a low and high multiple of EBITDA, then score your business on seven levers. The score places you within the range.

Step 4

Cash, debt and working capital

Optional. A buyer usually pays cash-free and debt-free, so cash is added and debt deducted. Working capital above or below a normal level moves the price too.

Step 5

Customer concentration

Optional. How much of the latest year's revenue came from your largest customer, and from your top three combined.

Step 6, optional

Compare two offers

A higher headline price is not always the better offer. Enter how each offer is paid to see what each is worth in today's money.

How the calculator works

How is the value worked out?

The calculator takes your adjusted EBITDA (profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, with the adjustments a buyer is likely to accept) and multiplies it by a multiple. Your seven lever scores place you within the low to high range you set: an average of 1 sits at the low multiple, 5 at the high. The levers buyers worry about most count for more: owner independence counts double, and revenue quality, customer spread and financial credibility count one and a half times. If your customer figures show one customer above 10% of revenue, they cap your customer spread score, because a buyer reads the figures, not the score.

Where do the default multiples come from?

They are a starting point only. The Dealsuite M&A Monitor for August 2025, a survey of 433 advisory firms on UK and Irish deals for companies with £1 million to £200 million of revenue, reported an average of 5.3x EBITDA, and around 3.1x for businesses with £200,000 of normalised EBITDA. It describes advisers' experience, not your business. Set your own range with your adviser.

Why do some of my adjustments not count?

Buyers only accept adjustments they can verify. To reflect that, the calculator counts unverified items as zero, items a buyer may accept at half, and items they are unlikely to accept as zero. These weightings, like the way the seven levers place you in the range, are simple illustrative assumptions, not a buyer's formula.

What is the difference between enterprise value and equity value?

Enterprise value is the price for the business on a cash-free, debt-free basis. Gross equity value adds cash, deducts debt and adjusts for working capital above or below a normal level. It is before tax, fees and deal terms such as deferred payments, so it is not the same as the cash you receive.

Is anything I type sent to you?

Figures you type are calculated in your browser and are not sent to us. If you upload accounts, the file is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to read the figures, and is not kept unless you ask us to review it. If you ask for your result by email, we store a summary of your figures with your name and email.

Email me my result

Optional. We will email you a copy of your result straight away.

We reply within one working day. We only send marketing emails to people who ask for them.

An indicative guide for preparation only, not a formal valuation, and not financial, tax or legal advice. A buyer will reach their own view. Market reference: Dealsuite M&A Monitor, August 2025.
