The Harvest Method

Three seasons. Twelve modules. One exit plan.

The method is taught in the order value is created. Each module pairs a framework with work on your own business, so you leave with the plan already started.

SOW

Make it clean

Module 01

The Number and the Why

What you need from the sale, what life after completion looks like, and the gap between today's value and that number.

You leave with: Your Completion Statement: your number, your date, your after.

Module 02

Financials a Buyer Believes

Clean monthly management accounts, normalised profit and every add-back documented, so the number survives due diligence.

You leave with: The Add-Back Register.

Module 03

The Owner Extraction Plan

The holiday test: what breaks if you vanish for six weeks, and how to take yourself out of sales, delivery and decisions.

You leave with: The Dependency Audit, with a fix and a date for each item.

Module 04

Legal Tidy-Up

Contracts in the company's name, IP assigned, a clean share structure and the property position a buyer's lawyer will check.

You leave with: The Tidy-Up Checklist.

GROW

Make it valuable

Module 05

The Multiple Levers

What actually moves the multiple: recurring revenue, contract quality, customer spread, margin trend and niche strength.

You leave with: The Multiple Map, with your two best levers chosen.

Module 06

The Machine, Not the Man

Systems and documented processes, so the business runs on documents rather than memory.

You leave with: The first ten processes to document.

Module 07

The Growth Story

Buyers pay for the future. Build a credible three-year story backed by pipeline, pricing and expansion routes.

You leave with: The One-Page Growth Story.

Module 08

Moat and Concentration

Defensibility, key-person risk, supplier dependence and what it would cost a competitor to copy you.

You leave with: The risk register a buyer would write about you, written first.

EXIT

Make it sold

Module 09

Who Buys a Business Like Yours

Trade buyers, private equity, management buy-outs and individual acquirers: what each pays and why.

You leave with: Your Buyer Map of likely acquirers.

Module 10

The Data Room, Built Early

The documents and questions of due diligence, organised before anyone asks. Readiness is negotiating power.

You leave with: The Data Room Blueprint and Diligence Readiness Checklist.

Module 11

Structures and Traps

Share and asset sales, earn-outs, deferred consideration, warranties, and when to walk away.

You leave with: The Red Lines card.

Module 12

Running the Process

Choosing advisers, creating competition between buyers and getting to completion day with your value intact.

You leave with: Your Completion Countdown, signed in the room.

How it is taught

Taught in a room, applied to your business.

The full method is taught at the Harvest Intensive by an owner who has bought and sold businesses: dinner the evening before, two days in the room, then Modules 4 and 10, the legal tidy-up and the data room, live online about two weeks later. Every exercise is done on your own numbers.

It opens with your Completion Statement and closes with it signed in front of the room.
